I haven’t forgotten about you, Tumblr, I promise! I’ve just been… taking a break. Okay, yes, I’ve been writing another blog, but I needed to get some distance from the Social Justice scene, because I was rolling towards burnout.
But now I hope to be back! We’ll see how it goes!
I haven’t spent much time on tumblr lately. I have been extremely busy with things in my life. Namely, I have been busy with paperwork, meetings, and the other various errands required to complete a social gender transition.
I am out to everyone in my immediate daily life. I am myself at work. I have legally changed my name. I went shopping to extend my absurdly limited wardrobe. I got my ears pierced, something I have wanted to do since I was 12 or so.
In short, I have finally begun living my life completely on my own terms. And it feels fantastic. The depression has lifted, my dysphoria is much more bearable, and I am really happy for the first time in… as long as I can remember, actually.
And I have been so very lucky. My manager and coworkers have all been at least civil - many of them have been vocally supportive, and not one person has questioned the authenticity of my identity or called me by my old name.
So, that’s what I have been doing this month. Hopefully I will have more time to write here now that most of the tedious stuff is out of the way!
